It’s the most Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Tulip Time ever!

Southern Highlands Tulip Time Festival 2019 is only a few short days away. The theme for this year’s floral extravaganza is delightfully whimsical.

It is a celebration of all things Mary Poppins!

Southern Highlands Tulip Time Inspiration

Bowral is widely considered as the inspiration for the character of Mary Poppins. The book’s author, Pamela L Travers, lived here during her teenage years.

Accordingly, this year is set to be a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious display of floral flamboyance. Indeed, over 90,000 planted bulbs will colour the gardens and throughout the Southern Highlands.

Spring turns our natural environment into a kaleidoscope of colours. So too, our local townships come to life with daily live musical entertainment, market stalls and plenty of perfect photo opportunities.

The Grand Parade

In previous years, the festival culminates in a street parade along Bong Bong Street Bowral. But this year a Twilight Festival will begin at Glebe Park, home of the Mary Poppins sculpture by artist Tanya Bartlett.

Bring your lantern and meet at Glebe Park on Bowral Street. You’ll experience the ‘turning’ of the Mary Poppins statue, welcoming Spring and Tulip Time. Afterwards, follow the lantern procession to Corbett Gardens and enjoy a Mary Poppins themed carnival.

It will be such a wonderful family gathering and certainly some very precious memories will be made.

This year’s charity partner is Variety, the Children’s Charity. It supports kids living with disability or chronic illness, those who need critical care, or who are facing financial hardship or geographic isolation. Tulip Time supports this worthy organisation through fundraising over the course of the festival.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Love, Di xx
