Tulip Time 2018 marks the 56th year of the festival. This year, there’s 75,000 tulips, 15,000 annuals and another 40,000 tulips planted across the district. You can see them as you enter the area from Mittagong right through to Moss Vale, Sutton Forest and beyond.

The longstanding Tulip Time festival brings the crowds from all over Australia. The array of colours and petals bring joy and amazement to so many people.

Tulip Time 2018

Now in its 56th year, Tulip Time is located in Corbett Gardens in the heart of Bowral. This year, the theme is Creating Memories. The charity partner is Dementia Australia and The Wingecarribie Adult Day Care Centre.

Actress, comedienne and Southern Highlands local Noelene Brown is the 2018 ambassador. She will be hosting the Community Breakfast on Wednesday the 19th from 7-9am. The breakfast will be broadcast live on Radio 2ST. The Lion’s Club providing a BBQ for all who attend (free entry for until 9am).

Entertainment Galore

There’s also a host of entertainment within Corbett Gardens, including local musicians, school bands, folk dancing and more. Artists in Residence include Heidi McGeoch, Peter Baron and Hetty Thompson. Plus, there will be workshops including Posy Making and Pop Up Puppets.

Four local artists, including Helen Gauchat who recently judged the My Highlands Home Art Prize, have painted a portrait of Noeline Brown. The works will be on display throughout the festival.

Food and Refreshments

The gardens will also be lined with food and shopping stalls, including everything from pizza to vegan food. There will also be homewares, health products and fashion items and accessories. The Country Women’s Association Bowral Tea Rooms will serve Devonshire tea and Finger Sandwiches. The Seniors Gift Shop and Tea Rooms will offer hot and cold beverages, sandwiches, cakes and biscuits.

The festival culminates in the Tulip Time Mile Race along Bong Bong Street on Saturday 22 at 1.30pm. It will be followed by a colourful street parade at 2.30pm to celebrate the start of spring. It will feature classic and vintage cars, marching bands, floats and walking groups.

Tulip Time begins on Tuesday September 18, 2018 and goes through to Monday October 1..t is open daily from 9am to 4pm and Saturdays from 9am to 5pm.

Remember that locals get in for free. Simply show your drivers’ license with your current address. For non-residents, prices are as follows:

  • Adults – $12pp

  • Concession/Pensioner – $7pp

  • Children 13-17years – $7pp

  • Children 12years and under – free (accompanied by an adult)
